We are still 15 Fridays away from the first football game of the 2018 campaign, but the schedules for all Iowa high schools became public Wednesday morning. The Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers are once again a Class 3A football squad and found out last month they’ll compete inside district nine against the Creston Panthers, the Glenwood Rams, the Harlan Cyclones, the Lewis Central Titans, and the Winterset Huskies. The Raccoon Valley Radio Network learned yesterday the Tigers four nondistrict football opponents for the next two seasons will feature the Bondurant-Farrar Bluejays, the Perry Bluejays, the Grinnell Tigers, and the Boone Toreadors.
ADM’s newly hired head football coach Garrison Carter says it was important to play some Raccoon River Conference schools during the nondistrict season. “Football’s unique in the fact that you don’t have a conference, you play the district the state assigns you,” Carter said, “I do think being able to foster some of those natural rivals you see in the other sports and carry them over to the fall was something that was important and those were a lot of the teams we asked to play.”
ADM’s 2018 schedule will feature four home games and five away contests. The Tigers season opener come August 24 against the Bondurant-Farrar Bluejays in Altoona. ADM’s home opener is the following Friday against long-time Dallas County rival Perry.
