Jefferson Fire Department’s annual fundraiser is happening this weekend.
The Firemen’s Ball will take place at Clover Hall on the Greene County Fairgrounds Saturday, starting at 8pm. Fire Chief Jack Williams says they’ve hired a live band, Riddle With Class, to perform that evening. He describes what happens at their event.
“A lot of people are dancing or just mingling around and talking with everybody. Last year we had one of the bests turnouts we’ve ever had, so we’re hoping to continue that this year.”
He points out a new raffle for this year’s fundraiser.
“We’re doing a raffle for a Green Mountain Smoker. It’s a very good smoker, I have one and a lot of people around here do. They’re $5 a ticket. You don’t have to be present to win. And they’ll also be sold at the Firemen’s Ball.”
Admission tickets are also $5 per person. All proceeds will go back to the department, which Williams adds they want to purchase new attachments for their Jaws of Life equipment. Tickets for the ball and/or raffle are available from any Jefferson Firefighter, or at the door.
