ADM Tigers

Both Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers track teams spent last weekend in Marion County, competing in the annual Central College Indoor Meet in Pella. The nonscored team event gave each Tiger squad the opportunity to compete against some of the state’s best track athletes as they prepare for the start of the outdoor season.

The boys meet was held Friday and ADM had several top 10 performances. Freshman Tate Stine-Smith cleared 6′ in the high jump competition, tying him with Mount Pleasant’s Sam Beatty for the best-measured leap at the meet. Junior Lucas Heitz placed seventh in the finals of the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.91 seconds. Freshman Nathan Mueller had the seventh best 1600 meter run performance, clocking a mile in 5:03.98. ADM’s 4×200 meter relay team of Colton Pirtle, Alex Kirkpatrick, Stine-Smith and Heitz clocked the meet’s fourth-best time at 1:39.81. The Tigers 4×400 meter team of Stine-Smith, Rylan Heffernan, Gustavs Klavis, and Heitz placed seventh overall with a time of 3:47.23. Finally, ADM’s 4×800 meter relay squad of Heffernan, Braeden Hegarty, Dylan Baker, and Klavis placed seventh as well, clocking a time of 9:18.58.

It was the girls turn on Saturday, and ADM’s ladies also had some top 10 performances as well. Sophomore Josi Lonneman had the meet’s second-longest measured jump at 18’4. Lonneman tied for the fourth-best 60 meter dash time at 8.35 seconds. Junior Sadie Jurgens posted a pair of third-place finishes in the distance events. Jurgen’s 800-meter run was clocked in 2:25.35 and her 1600 meter run time came in at 5:14.7.

The outdoor track season begins next week for both ADM squads. The Tiger girls will compete Monday in the Earlham Early Bird Invitational while the Tiger boys will compete in a co-ed meet hosted by Bondurant-Farrar.
