The newest era of Panorama High School football can begin with the hiring of Michael Kauzlarich as the districts next head coach. Kauzlarich spent the last three seasons as the offensive coordinator of the Centerville Big Red Football team, helping the squad to the Class 3A playoffs each of the last two seasons. He is replacing Lyle Alumbaugh, who spent 24 years building the Panther football program, including 21 years as head coach.
Kauzlarich was a guest on yesterday’s Karl Chevrolet of Stuart Guthrie County PM Sports Page, and he says he’s already gotten a chance to talk with his predecessor at a recent Iowa Football Coaches Association event. “That was great to get background knowledge on the program and for him to be able to talk to me about somethings that may have went right and may have went wrong.” Kauzlarich said, “Basically handing the keys of the program over and giving me a jist about the program and where it sits at this time.
Alumbaugh walks away from Panorama with an overall record of 120 wins and 78 losses. Of his 24 seasons with the Panthers football program, 20 ended with winning records. His final season at the helm finished with a 3-6 overall record.
