Another piece of the $35.48 million project cost for the Greene County School District has been answered.

Sid Jones, on behalf of the school district and Our Kids, Our Future Greene County, says they are looking to acquire 80-acres for the new high school, regional career academy, gymnasium and performing arts center, west of American Athletic Incorporated, which the land is owned by Mike and Kathy Bravard. Jones says the Bravards have been supportive of the bond and have agreed to make their land available for the project.

Due to the Bravards long history of farming, they desire to replace their farmland with other farmland acres in a property exchange known as a “1031 Exchange.” In order for that to happen, the Bravards land must have the value established and they must identify the replacement farmland property, along with a valuation established for that property. Jones points out they feel confident that the projected cost of the land will be within the overall project guidelines that have been established.

No finalized price for the land has been made and the actual purchase price will depend on the final transactions. This type of an exchange is a lengthy process, but the final land price will be disclosed to the public, once it has been settled.
