With a recent coat of snow, summer seems far away. However, the Little Guthrie Theatre in Guthrie Center recently announced their summer show. The theatre will present “Six-on-Six: The Musical” July 5, 6, and 8th. Iowa playwright Robert John Ford’s show features the unique version of the game, along with its eventual demise.
The performances are part of the community’s celebration around the summer exhibit on Hometown Teams. The Smithsonian exhibit on local sports will be housed at the Mary J. Barnett Memorial Library from late June through early August. It also coincides with Guthrie Center’s All-School Reunion that same week.
Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center Vocal Director Kelsey Moran will serve as the show’s director and auditions will begin late next month. General Admission tickets are $10 and are on sale at Guthrie County State Bank in Guthrie Center, Art on State, and the library. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the final six-player girls basketball season in Iowa. The Guthrie Center Tigerettes won the state title in 1937 and 1963.
