Greene County Medical Center is hosting a free lunch-n-learn opportunity next week.
The topic will be on “A Good Night’s Sleep” with pulmonology specialist Dr. James Meyer. He will focus on obstructive sleep apnea. It is the condition where muscles in the back of the throat relax, causing the airway to narrow and the throat to close while sleeping. The brain then alerts the body to wake up to reopen the airway, forcing the person to choke, snort or gasp for air throughout their sleep. It leaves the person feeling drowsy while they are awake and can be caused by weight, age, gender, genetics, smoking and medication.
The free lunch-n-learn will take place Monday, March 12th from noon to 1pm at the medical center education classroom. A sack lunch will be provided for those who register early. To sign up, call Care Management at 386-0469.
