Thursday, March 1st
3:00am: While on patrol, an officer located a vehicle at the storage units at 408 East Highway 30. The officer made contact with a subject loading items into a unit, who provided paperwork showing rental of the unit.
3:41am: Amber Revell requested an officer at 405 East Monroe Street for a Civil Dispute occurring with a roommate. The officer worked to diffuse the issues for the evening.
4:04am: An officer assisted Buena Vista County by delivering a Death Notification to a Jefferson resident.
12:40pm: Officers assisted the Jefferson Fire Department with a Vehicle Fire at 304 North Chestnut Street. The 2001 Nissan Altima, owned by Bill Richardson of Jefferson, was a total loss.
1:23pm: A caller advised of a male walking two dogs in the area of Grimmell and Russell, who may have kicked one of the dogs. The officer located the male and spoke with him. He denied kicking the animal. Both animals appeared to be healthy and happy.
2:22pm: A Traffic Stop was performed in the 200 Block of North Locust Street, resulting in Brittany Bowman of Jefferson being cited for, “Operation without Registration.”
3:02pm: A Traffic Stop at 220th and Mulberry resulted in Bawi Cung of Marshalltown being cited for, “Excessive Speed.”
3:24pm: An officer was requested at the Greene County High School at 100 Ram Drive. A student had sent text messages to other students advising that a Active Shooter was in the school. The officer is investigating.
3:52pm: Steve Murphy reported subjects inside an empty residence he had purchased at 505 East State Street. The subjects had left before the officer’s arrival.
4:47pm: Aaron Harns reported a male, with a holstered firearm visible on his hip, shopping at HyVee. The officer located the male and verified his Concealed Carry Permit. The officer advised the male to cover the weapon and keep it concealed.
6:11pm: Robert Ewing voiced his concerns to officers about the Encyclopedia showing how to build a bomb.
