Greene County Activities Director and Head Football Coach Mitch Moore has been directing a strength and conditioning program for athletes in football and other sports for a year. He told Raccoon Valley Radio the athletes have shown gains, and in many cases, very large gains in the various areas measurements are taken. The coach gave an example. “When I got here last March we didn’t have one guy that could bench press 225 lbs. Not one! Today (Thursday) at 6 a.m., we had multiple guys and multiple racks and benches repping 225 lbs. as a part of their sets. So, as I look around, What you bench isn’t going to win you football games, but that’s kind of a composite of what we’ve done from a strength and conditioning standpoint- we’ve gotten stronger! We’ve paid attention to the science behind strength and conditioning, and then we’ve put our time in, which has given us the confidence to say ‘Hey, I think we’re going to be a better football team this year.”

Coach Moore had expected the Iowa High School Athletic Association to officially release all 2018 schedules today, but an email sent by the IHSAA he received stated it would be March 21 before that happens.
