New Perry City Council

The Perry City Council will convene in regular session this week, but it won’t be on their normal day. Due to Monday being President’s Day, the Council will meet Tuesday evening.

Following City Administrator Sven Peterson’s report and Mayor and Council comments, Carolyn McNeill will give a report in open forum to discuss the Perry Police Department Memorial. In old business, the Council will consider approving a bid for the final work to be done on the soccer complex project. They will also consider a pay request for the 2017 sanitary sewer improvement construction.

In new business, the Council will consider submitting an application for the Assistance to Firefighters grant from Homeland Security, in the amount of $23,667, including a local match of $1,183, for new vehicle extraction equipment. Next, they will consider a resolution to waive building permit fees for phases one and two of the Dewey Field Complex renovation project for the Perry School District. Other items on the agenda include: setting a time and date for the public hearing to present the fiscal year 2019 budget; approval of a preliminary plat for land located in the Perry Industrial Park; a resolution of notice and intent to dispose of abandoned, unused, and outdated property; and a contract for professional services for airport land acquisition for the runway extension.

Finally, the Council will consider a resolution approving tax abatement applications for construction completed in 2017. The meeting is open to the public and will be held Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the Clarion Room at Perry City Hall.
