ADM Tigers

The rubber match between two Raccoon River Conference girls basketball teams came down to the final possession Wednesday evening in Madison County. The Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers (9-13 overall) paid a visit to Winterset High School for the third and final meeting of the season against league rival Winterset. Trailing 43-41 with less than five seconds remaining, Winterset junior Madison Wauters missed the tying basket from the free throw line as ADM escaped with a two-point victory.

Highlighting ADM was sophomore point guard Abbie Hlas, scoring a game-high 17 points, five rebounds, two assists, and a steal. Hlas spoke with Raccoon Valley Radio after the game and she admits she was excited for another chance to play the Huskies. “I was excited especially since the first time (down here) we didn’t have a good first quarter.” Hlas said, “I was ready to get after it because I knew it would be a good game and I knew we could beat them.”

Wauters led Winterset with 11 points in her final game of the season. The win helps ADM surpass last years win total, improving their overall record to 9-13. The Tigers advance to play Class 4A No. 2 Lewis Central (20-0) Saturday in the semifinals of the Class 4A Region 8 bracket.
