voteFollowing the caucuses last Monday, several individuals are intending to run for elected positions in Greene County.

State Republican Central Committee member John Thompson says current Supervisors Tom Contner from District 3 and Dawn Rudolph from District 2 are intending to seek re-election. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio they have a potential candidate for Greene County Treasurer and are actively looking for candidates to run for Greene County Attorney and Recorder.

Greene County Democratic Party Chair Chris Henning talks about the two incumbents for Greene County Treasurer and Recorder, who also intend to run again.

“Well the incumbents, Donna Lawson has been County Treasurer for over 30 years (is running again) and Marcia Tasler will be running again as incumbent for the (County) Recorder’s office.”

Henning adds that they are also looking for candidates to run for the two County Supervisors positions.

Greene County Libertarian Chair Ed Wright says the only candidate so far that’s running for a county seat is current Assistant Greene County Attorney Thomas Laehn for the County Attorney seat, since current County Attorney and Republican Nic Martino is retiring at the end of the year. Wright is excited to have Laehn as their candidate for County Attorney.

“I was very favorably impressed with some foundational work that he had done and certainly his academics are top notch. I mean both he and his wife (Susan) have PhDs in political science, as well as he has a law degree.”

According to the Greene County Auditor’s office, candidate nomination forms can be filed as early as March 5th.
