Snow covered roadsGreene County has been socked with snow this past week, accumulating in some areas as much as six to eight-inches.

Plow crews have put in a lot of time over the week clearing the roadways of snow. Jefferson Public Works Director Dave Morlan says whenever snow events happen in the city, they have to be ready to go out.

“There’s always one or two of us that’s getting up and checking through the night, and watching to see how much we’ve gotten. We are relying on some other employees that go in early if we’re not out yet and if we need to, they are giving us a call. Our guys are good. When we call them up, they’re right there within a half an hour and getting to work and getting it done.”

The National Weather Service reports that there’s no real threat of snow in the immediate forecast.
