Snow-covered roads and slick conditions created a mess in Greene County.
According to the Greene County Sheriff’s office, as of 2:30pm Monday, law enforcement and rescue crews responded to two major collisions, each involving three vehicles, and they closed portions of highways 30 and 4; at least four other two and single vehicle crashes also occurred, plus several vehicles in the ditch.
The Sheriff’s office reminds everyone that with the possible “white out” conditions on the roads, motorists are encouraged to make sure their headlights are on and wipe off your vehicle’s tailights. Due to it being too light outside, the automatic headlight functions in most vehicles will not turn on your headlights.
The Iowa Department of Transportation’s road condition website is reporting all state highways are completely covered with snow.
