The Jefferson Rotary Club met this past Monday in regular session.
Rotarians received an update of projects with Vision 2020 from Greene County Development Corporation President Sid Jones. He reviewed the action plan and project list. He also presented plans to develop a three-block area near the downtown square in Jefferson that would incorporate several projects determined by the steering committee. One of those plans was to repurpose the middle school into an apartment complex. Jones believes the idea of doing something like that won’t be possible unless the proposed Greene County School District bond referendum is passed.
He touched on the fact that if it wasn’t for GCDC, the Greene County Supervisors, the City of Jefferson and major employers paying $98,000 to bring Coordinator Zach Mannheimer and McClure Engineering into the community to develop several projects, none of the further development of ideas could have happened.
