The Jefferson Elks Lodge held the Northwest District Hoop Shoot Contest this past Saturday.

Elks member Joyce Fister says four Greene County kids won their respective division and will advance onto the state contest. Earning first place was: Trevon Keely for 8-9-year-old boys, Natalie Towers for the 8-9-year-old girls division, Brynley Ruzicka for 10-11-year-old boys, and the 12-13-year-old boys winner was Bryce Stalder. All together, there were six winners from the local contests that got the opportunity to compete in the district competition. Ruzicka is the only returning state qualifier in the Elks Hoop Shoot Contest.

The state contest will take place in Grinnell on Saturday, February 17th. The winners from the state competition will move onto the regional contest, which will be held in Iowa City.
