The City of Adel is looking for willing volunteers to serve on the Economic Development Commission and Parks and Recreation Board.
Positions on the Commission and Board became available due to resignations, and anyone interested in helping to shape the direction of Adel is encouraged to apply. The Economic Development Commission performs several duties, including: the research and study of contemporary trends; identifying development opportunities and funding sources; creating and recommending economic development initiatives and strategies; and crafting an overall economic development plan.
The Parks and Rec Board recommends and oversees policy and rules governing the City parks, the Adel Family Aquatic Center, and the City’s cemeteries, as well as all park operations. The Commission and Board both meet the first Monday of each month. Terms are normally filled for three years, but since the positions are to fill vacancies, the terms will end on July 1, 2018 for the Commission and on July 1, 2019 for the Board. Due to gender balance requirements, the Commission member must be female, though the Board member can be either gender.
Applications can be picked up at the front desk of Adel City Hall or on the City’s website, and are due by Wednesday, February 7th.
