acgcThe ACGC basketball teams will begin a three-game road set in Woodward tonight against the Woodward-Granger Hawks in West Central Activities Conference doubleheader action.

The Charger girls have arguably their best opportunity of the season to come away with their first win. The Hawks stumble into this matchup, dropping six straight including an overtime loss last night to Greene County. Senior Alyssa Bice leads the Hawks with just under ten points per game. Sophomore Katelyn Scharlau is also a top ten rebounder in the WCAC. As a team, the Hawks average just 34 points per game, which is dead last in the conference.

The Charger girls are coming off a tough loss to Van Meter Tuesday, however Head Coach Aaron Dose hopes to have freshman Kylie Young on the court tonight. Senior Mady Smith is coming off her best game of the season, recording 15 points, eight rebounds, two steals, and an assist. Lauryn Embleton also knocked down three three-pointers and four steals to keep the Chargers in the game.

The nightcap features three top-ten scorers in the WCAC. W-G Sophomore Keith Braunschweig leads the Hawks with nearly 16 points per game. Classmate Bryce Achenbach also averages double digit scoring and leads the team in rebounds, three-pointers, assists, and steals.vCharger senior Caden Wardyn is just three points behind Braunschweig in the WCAC. Wardyn averaged about 17 points in his first five games of the season but has averaged just 11 in the five-game losing streak.
