The Perry wrestling team will resume competition tonight after a nearly three week holiday hiatus when they travel to Bondurant for a Raccoon River Conference dual with the Bluejays and a non conference battle with Van Meter. Perry head coach Mark Weber was pleased with his team’s work during the holiday rush.
“I thought it went pretty well,” added the second year head coach. “I think its good to give the kids a break and a chance to relax a little bit and enjoy family during the break. The kids were able to do that and I thought when they returned they were very focused. During the Christmas break at the high school level, you certainly can tell the reasons why kids are out and what they’re hoping to get from the sport. We had several kids show up ready to work each day and ready to get the necessary reps to get better.”
Perry was led in the first third of the season by the big three, Kaleb Olejniczak, Zach Stewart and Zach Thompson. The three returning state qualifiers all posted solid records in December and will resume their journey with the hopes of peaking by the time mid-February hits.
