ADM Tigers

Four days into the new year and the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers wrestling team will begin the second half of their season tonight on the Dallas County border. The Tiger wrestlers make the short trip to Grimes for a nonconference dual event against the Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs. ADM finished the first half of the season with a 4-12 dual record.

ADM first-year head wrestling coach Chris Hatchitt has respect for the Dallas Center-Grimes athletic department. “By all means, Dallas Center-Grimes is a quality wrestling program. They are a quality sports program,” Hatchitt said, “(They’ve) been one of the schools that ADM has competed against for many years and (DCG) has seen a growth spurt that has put them into a different class. (However), the rivalry is still kept, and it’s good to see the Tigers and the Mustangs go at it.”

Hatchitt adds the Mustangs bring a quality lineup into tonight’s dual. Senior Zane Mulder is DCG’s only ranked wrestler in Class 3A according to the Predicament. The publication lists him as the second best grappler at 160 pounds. ADM junior Andrew Flora considers Dallas Center-Grimes among their top competitors. “They’re always pretty solid throughout their lineup.” Flora said, “I feel if we had a full lineup, we could probably take them but we got what we got, and I still think we can give them a fight.”

ADM travels to Grimes tonight to grapple DCG. Varsity dual begins at 6:30 p.m.
