A pair of nonconference wrestling teams will come to Stuart tonight to battle the West Central Valley Wildcats in dual action. The Wildcats welcome the grapplers from Logan-Magnolia and Tri-Center in the first competition since the holiday break. West Central Valley posted a 10-5 dual record in the first half of the season.
Six Wildcat wrestlers begin the second half of the season with at least 10 wins under their belt. Junior Carson Wadle (182; 15-2) and Justin Garcia (126; 15-3) have each tallied 15 wins in their respective weight classes. Seniors Tye Joint (145; 10-2), Riley Algreen (195; 10-7), and Alex Wells (285; 10-7) along with junior Cole Sackett (152; 10-7) are the other Wildcat wrestlers who recorded 10 wins in 2017. No West Central Valley wrestlers are currently ranked in the latest Class 1A poll put out by the Predicament before the start of Christmas.
Logan-Magnolia has four wrestlers listed in the Class 1A wrestling rankings by the Predicament, including freshman Briar Reisz (No. 10 113), senior Wyatt Crocker (No. 9 126), senior Garret Thompson (No. 8 145), and senior Bo Giese (No. 8 152). Sophomore Connor Attkisson is Tri Center’s only ranked wrestlers at the moment, holding the No. 6 spot in Class 1A’s 106 weight division.
Tonight’s nonconference triangular begins at 5:30 p.m. at West Central Valley High School in Stuart.
