A change in the calendar year couldn’t end the current losing streak for the Panorama Panthers boys basketball team (1-8 overall) Tuesday night. The Panthers opened the second half of the season in Ogden, battling the Bulldogs (5-5 overall) in a West Central Activities Conference matchup. Panorama was on the short end of an 83-78 result.
The Panthers had no answer for Bulldog forward Ben Heeren. The junior registered a game-best 34 points and grabbed nine rebounds, converting six of his seven free throw attempts. Three Panorama players finished with 10 or more points in the setback. Sophomore Malachi Peasley topped the Panthers with 20 points. Sophomore Luke South chipped in 18 points, while junior Gracen Welberg added 16 points. The loss is the seventh in a row for Panorama, and the fifth by seven points or less. The Panthers resume their season tomorrow evening, hosting the Woodward Academy Knights in a West Central Activities Conference boys only varsity contest. Tip off is set for 7:30 p.m. in Panora.
