A Murray man, who assaulted a Guthrie County Sheriff’s Deputy in late November, pled guilty last month.
According to court documents, Michael Cole Joint pled guilty on December 18th to a Class D Felony for his third offense for possession of a controlled substance and a misdemeanor for assault on a peace officer. District Judge Brad McCall sentenced Joint to five-years in prison for the felony and two-years for the misdemeanor. McCall also revoked Joint’s probation from an unrelated felony charge.The previous incident is a felony weapons possession offense, which carries a five-year prison sentence.
Joint assaulted Deputy Kent Gries at the Kum and Go parking lot in Casey on Sunday, November 26th. Gries was attempting to detain Joint on an unrelated matter when Joint resisted arrest. Joint will serve the twelve-years concurrently in a state institution.
