When Perry won a non-conference boys’ high school non-conference basketball game on Friday night in the middle school gym in Jefferson, the Blue Jays had fewer field goals than the Rams. They had fewer three-point goals, but WAY more free throws, and an individual scoring performance only rarely seen.

The Blue Jays were 80-73 winners over the Rams to improve to 3-7 while Greene County fell to 6-3. Senior Rashon Ivory scored 42 points and made 16 of 17 free throw attempts. Ivory was good on his first 16 charity tosses. For the night, Perry was 33 of 38 on free throws. The number of attempts, makes, and percentage made were noticeably better than any of the Blue Jays other nine games and the 80 points were a season high.

The Rams were eight of 20 on three-point shots with five by senior Joe Towers, who finished with 16 points. Junior Trey Hinote had 22 points and senior Wade Adcock added 19, but it still wasn’t enough to overcome Ivory and Perry’s free throw shooting. the Rams were 10 of 14 from he foul line. The 73 points were the most scored this season, as were the 80 points allowed.

Coach Chris Nelson’s Rams are off until Jan. 5 when they travel to Jewell to face Class 2A undefeated and top 10 rated South Hamilton on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
