The December portion of Greene County’s high school boys’ basketball season ended with a home loss, 80-73, to Perry in non-conference play Friday night in the middle school gym in Jefferson. The game was heard on KG98, KDLS 1310 AM, 99.7 FM, and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.

Senior Rashon Ivory scored a career-high 42 points and the Blue Jays made 33 of 38 free throw attempts to improve to 3-7 while the Rams fell to 6-3. Both teams are now on the break for the holidays. Ivory was 16 of 17 from the foul line with his only miss coming on his final attempt. He fouled out late in the game, then was assessed a technical foul. The Rams were able to trim a 10 point deficit down to five after that, but could get no closer. Drew Levan was eight for eight from the stripe for the Blue Jays and he finished with 16 points. Perry entered the game shooting around 60% from the foul line before making nearly 87% against the Rams. Ivory was averaging less than 15 points per game before dropping 42 on Greene County.

The Rams had 22 points from Trey Hinote, 17 from Wade Adcock, and 16 by Joe Towers, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Ivory and Perry’s free throw shooting. The Rams were right at there season average from the foul line (71%) but 10 of 14 paled in comparison to the Blue Jays. Hinote had two points in the first quarter, seven in second, two in the third, and 11 in the fourth. The game was his fifth this season with at least 22 points. Four Rams fouled out of the game, one of the few times that’s happened in the six seasons playing as Greene County. Ben Bravard, Carter Morton, Jordan Patterson, and Lance Hughes all left early because of fouling out.

Greene County doesn’t play again until Jan. 5 when they go up against Heart of Iowa Activities Conference leader and top 10 rated undefeated South Hamilton in Jewell.
