The first half of the high school basketball season closed Thursday night for the West Central Valley Wildcats girls basketball team (4-5 overall). The Wildcats closed the 2017 portion of the schedule with a nonconference win at Southeast Warren, 55-30. The win snapped a three-game losing streak for West Central Valley, improving their overall record to 4-5.
The tallest upperclassmen on the Wildcat girls basketball squad is the team leader in multiple statistical categories. Grace Dupuy, standing 5 feet 10 inches tall, is West Central Valley’s scoring leader with 145 points in nine games, an average of just over 16 points per game. She’s also averaging 10 rebounds per game, recording 90 total boards. Dupuy’s also the team leader with 22 blocks, and her 19 steals are tied with classmate Kennedy Lose for the team lead.
The West Central Valley girls basketball team resumes their season on Tuesday, January 2, traveling to Urbandale for a West Central Activities Conference matchup versus Des Moines Christian (8-2 overall).
