A nonconference varsity doubleheader produced a pair of victories Thursday for the West Central Valley Wildcats. The Wildcats traveled to Liberty Center for a matchup against the Southeast Warren Warhawks. The girl’s contest went to West Central Valley by a score of 55-30. Senior Grace Dupey led the way with 18 points, while senior Taylor Beane chipped in 11. The win was the fourth of the season for the Lady Wildcats, improving their overall record to 4-5.
The Wildcat boys basketball team will enter the holiday break without the burden of a long losing steak after defeating Southeast Warren, 57-49. West Central Valley had three players finish in double figures scoring, led by sophomore Kaleb Badker with 12 points. Freshman Drew Taylor chipped in 11, and Cole Arnburg added 10. The victory snaps an eight-game losing streak to start the season for the Wildcats.
Both Wildcats basketball teams resume their season on January 2, traveling to Urbandale for a West Central Activities Conference showdown with Des Moines Christian.
