Elderbridge Agency on Aging had another successful year in Greene County.
In the 2017 fiscal year, Elderbridge served a total of 24,286 meals to county residents. However, the agency had to close the congregate meals site in Scranton, due to low turnout. The only meal site in the county is located in Jefferson. Other services included: case management, caregiver access assistance, chore programs with New Opportunities, health promotion and disease prevention, homemaker, legal aid and personal care with Greene County Public Health.
Due to the federal government reducing its budget, Elderbridge had their overall budget cut by 4.25-percent. The reduction caused Elderbridge to lease out office space, cut staff and freeze some salaries of some positions.
A new service to generate additional revenue and help offset the cost of the budget reduction is a non-profit organization called Elderbridge Alliance. The first phase of the program was launched this past July.
The total amount that Elderbridge was provided last fiscal year was $168,427. Elderbridge requested $7,256 in matching funds for the 2019 fiscal year for expected services for county residents. The Board of Supervisors haven’t approved the request yet.
