The last competition of 2017 takes place in Des Moines tonight for the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers wrestling team. ADM travels to Saydel High School this evening for a nonconference triangular against the Eagles, and the Panorama Panthers. The Tigers next wrestle on January 6 in the Gary Christensen Invite in Winterset.
The ADM wrestling team’s dual record is at 4-12 after last weekend’s Battle of Waterloo. ADM finished second in pool eight, defeating Alburnett (42-36) and Columbus Catholic (45-18). ADM head wrestling coach Chris Hatchitt says despite giving up a few weight classes, he was proud of the effort given by his team. “It’s always tough to win a dual when you’re giving up a few weight classes, but we won a majority of the matches we wrestled in,” Hatchitt said.
Hatchitt adds tonight’s dual in Saydel provides ADM with quality competition before the holiday break. “Both those schools have quality wrestlers and it will be good for us to see if our second string, junior varsity, guys can step up and fill in some of the holes (we have).” Hatchitt said, “We’ll see if they can win some of the matches they are filling in for and see if we can get two dual wins before Christmas break and the new year.”
Tonight’s first dual between ADM and Panorama starts at 5:30 p.m. from Saydel High School.
