An unruly student caused a “lock out” at Greene County Middle School Thursday.
According to a Jefferson Police report, officers were called to the middle school in Jefferson at 9:18am for an “unruly” student. School officials say the student was dealt with in a hallway, but the school went into a “lock out.” A “lock out” is when all off the exterior and interior building doors are locked for student and staff safety. No one is allowed to leave the classrooms and class can go on as normal, while the situation is being resolved.
Officers were able to remove the 11-year-old student and he was brought to the law enforcement center, where the student was picked up by his father. An officer issued a charge to the Juvenile Court for disorderly conduct.
School officials say no one was hurt from the incident and the lock out was in effect for 20 minutes.
