The Greene County Board of Supervisors met Monday in regular session.
During open forum, it was mentioned that from the start of the year until December 3rd, there has been 5,835 visits to the Mahanay Memorial Carillon Tower. Last year there were 4,801 visits.
County Engineer Wade Weiss then gave several updates to the Board. He said he is having discussions with MidAmerican Energy about the amount of damage that was done to a county road during the construction process to build over 40 wind turbines in the northeastern portion of the county. He said both the E-39 and E-57 bridges are in the final stages of being replaced and will be open before the end of the year. The Board also agreed with Weiss to remove most of the temporary stop signs on the unofficial gravel detour routes near Grand Junction, now that the Highway 30 overpass bridge is open.
The Board then reviewed the master matrix score for a proposed new hog confinement in section 24 of Cedar Township. The property is owned by Austin and Jonathan Minnehan. They are wanting to build two new buildings for a total of 4,400 head of hogs. The master matrix score was 465. The public hearing is scheduled for 9am next Monday.
Next, the Board heard two funding requests from Greene County Development Corporation for $50,000 and Jefferson Matters: Main Street for $5,000. The Board took no action on the requests.
Finally, the Board approved the renewal of the county’s health insurance plan with their current carrier, Cypress, with a 23-percent overall increase in rates and purchased the Teledoc program for one-year at a cost of $14/county employee.
