Dallas County Hospital in Perry was recently recognized for their exemplary work in the Ambulatory Surgery Department.

The hospital utilizes an outside vendor to conduct surveys on their behalf for the patient experience, and the surveys from the most recent quarter showed very positive results. The surgery department received a 100% rating in six categories including: friendly surgery nursing staff; confidence in the skill of the nurses; confidence in the skill of the surgeons; the whole staff worked together well; the patient was kept informed about any delays; and concerns and complaints were responded to in a satisfactory and timely manner. Sally Swenson, Education and Service Manager at DCH, said the hospital knew the department typically excelled in surveys, but it still came as a surprise to see just how well they did.

“Our surgery department’s been one of our stellar performers for a long time. For the last probably year-and-a-half, they have just really had super scores. And I didn’t think that they could go any higher, but this last quarter they did! And it just is a good thing for patients to know, that they can feel comfortable having procedures done at Dallas County Hospital; that they’re going to get great care, it’s going to be given in a safe manner, and that they’re going to find staff that really care about their well-being and how things turn out.”

Swenson adds, while the surgery department had high scores in every category from the surveys, they are always looking to improve and would like even more than six categories to be rated 100%.
