The longest losing streak of the young season for the Grand View Vikings women’s basketball team (4-4 overall) was snapped Friday afternoon convincingly. The Vikings had lost four straight before welcoming the Kansas Christian College Falcons (0-4 overall) to Des Moines for a non-conference contest. Grand View put arguably their best performance together in a 119-15 victory over Kansas Christian.

Multiple Raccoon Valley Radio listening area graduates contributed to Grand View’s victory on Friday. Freshman Sydney Bertman, a 2017 ADM graduate, led the Vikings scoring attack with 20 points, making nine of her 11 shots. Bertman also swiped seven steals, dished out seven assists, and grabbed six rebounds in the victory. Junior Jessi Campbell, a 2015 Panorama graduate, recorded season-high 16 points, five rebounds, and three assists. Junior Bailee Arnburg, a 2015 West Central Valley alum, converted all four of her shot attempts versus Kansas Chrisitan, ending the game with nine points and five assists.

The victory evens the Vikings’ record at 4-4 overall. Grand View opens Heart of America conference play Wednesday, hosting the Culver Stockton College Wildcats (4-4 overall).
