Here are some reminders for Small Business Saturday activities tomorrow in Guthrie County.
The Panora Chamber of Commerce will begin a week-long “Shop Small Panora” campaign with a business passport program. Shoppers can pick up the passports at the 40th Annual Holiday Boutique and Craft Show at the Veterans Gymnasium/Community Center or at participating businesses. Participants can retrieve a sticker by visiting one of the participating businesses. Once all eight boxes are filled with a sticker, they can be turned in to The Funky Zebras Panora by 4 pm on Saturday, December 2nd or at Breakfast with Santa earlier in the day. Eligible passports will be entered into drawings for local business prize packs and chamber bucks.
Main Street Guthrie Center is also preparing for a large crowd to shop local. There will be plenty of canvas bags and other items to facilitate a productive shopping experience. MSGC will also be giving away poinsettias to shoppers who spend $50 or more at local businesses. Patrons can bring in their receipts to the MSGC stand at Art on State to receive the poinsettia.
Former Bob and Jo’s RV Owner Tom Reil mentions an important component small, local businesses have over some larger outlets. “When you get people to walk in they find that hometown, friendly atmosphere. You try to greet everybody with a smile and a good day and people like that and they remember that.”
Several Stuart area businesses will also offer deals and discounts throughout the day.
