Former Greene County High School wrestler Hunter Ruth went 3-1 on Nov. 18 for Central College at the Augsburg-Adidas Invitational in Minneapolis. Ruth placed second in the Silver bracket at 285 lbs. and the freshman drew praise from head coach Eric Van Kley, who said Ruth really wrestled well in picking up three wins. While in high school, Ruth was a two-time State Tournament qualifier and was the Rams only State qualifier last season.

Central sent 31 wrestlers, mostly underclassmen to the event. Another of those was Lane Rummelhart of Guthrie Center, who went 2-2 in the Gold bracket at 174 lbs. “He had a really good day. He had a nice job of getting on his offense all day and had a solid tournament.”

The Dutch are off for Thanksgiving and they’ll open the home season on Nov. 30 against Augustana College (IL).
