The next committee meeting for Dexter’s Sesquicentennial celebration is scheduled for Tuesday at 7pm at the Roundhouse.
Dexter was founded in 1868 and has been a source of significant history throughout its 150 years. The town was the site of a July 1933 shooting between the Barrow gang and Des Moines area police. Dexter also hosted President Harry Truman during his Whistle Stop campaign on September 18, 1948. Truman gave a speech on how the Congressional delegation at the time regarded the American farmer.
Tuedsay’s meeting is open to the public.
