It was an eventful start to the week for the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers girls basketball team (0-2). The Tigers played back-to-back nonconference games Monday at Norwalk and Tuesday versus Van Meter, playing competitively in the pair of losses. ADM held a 16-point first half lead over Van Meter before overtaking the game late in the fourth quarter in a 48-44 setback. Sophomore Abbie Hlas was ADM’s leading scorer versus the Bulldogs with 18 points.
ADM head coach Rick Dillinger said the team held a morning practice Wednesday before the players started their Thanksgiving celebrations. The Tigers will hold two hour long practices tomorrow, Saturday and Monday as they prepare for their next game Tuesday. Dillinger says they’ll use the time to expand their offense. “We think we need another set with some type of screening action and that involving penetrating (the lane),” Dillinger said, “Your worry is will we have the kids here over break, you just don’t know. I know we’re missing one for sure, but that’s basketball at this point. We’re still early, so you got to start adding things to make us better.”
Tuesday marks the first varsity doubleheader for the ADM basketball teams against the Pella Christian Eagles. Catch ADM boys and girls basketball broadcasts all season long on True Country, K 107.9.
