The Greene County Sheriff’s office recently hired a new deputy.

Brandon Turner is an Ames native and served in the United States Air Force for seven years, achieving the rank of staff sergeant. He has an associates degree in criminal justice and a bachelor’s degree in religion from the online college of Liberty University. He talks about why he wanted to pursue a career in law enforcement and what he’s most excited for.

“I’ve always been drawn towards public service and law enforcement has just been kind of a calling for me and I really enjoy helping people and being there. We’re really excited about getting involved in the community and calling this (Greene County) home.”

He starts with the Sheriff’s office today and will attended the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy in March. Brandon’s wife is Suzanne and they have four children ages eight, six, three and two.
