A handful of West Central Valley Wildcats football players earned postseason honors from the coaches of Class 1A District 6. The Tigers had three players make one of the all-district teams, and three additional athletes earned honorable mention selections after an improved 2017 campaign.
The coaches of the district unanimously voted Cole Arnburg to the first team all-district squad as a wide receiver. Arnburg was the district leader with 693 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns. Senior Brock Wolfe also was named the first team all-district squad as a defensive back. Wolfe was second on the Wildcats in total tackles with 81.5 stops, 54 solos. He also recorded three turnovers defensively, two interceptions and one fumble recovery.
Junior Cole Sackett was named to the second team all-district squad. Sackett led the state of Iowa with 128.5 total tackles, and his 81 solo tackles were 15 more than anyone else in Class 1A District 6. Carson Wadle (QB), Ethan Pote (OL), and Brice Sechrist (DB) are West Central Valley’s honorable mention selections.
The West Central Valley Wildcats’ 2017 season closed with a 3-6 overall record, a one win improvement from last year. The Wildcats lose 10 seniors to graduation.
