Another season of Adel-Desoto-Minburn (ADM) Tigers girls basketball begins tonight. ADM starts the 2017-18 campaign on the road against the Norwalk Warriors of the Little Hawkeye Conference. The two squads met last season with the Warriors beating the Tigers in Adel, 56-47, on December 12, 2016.
ADM graduated their top two scorers from last season in first team All-Raccoon River Conference player Sydney Bertman and all-conference honorable mention selection Allie Cook. The Tigers return three players who averaged five or more points scored per game last season. Sophomore Abbie Hlas is the team’s leading returning scorer at 6.5 points per game. Sophomore Delaney Bertman averaged 6.1 per contest while Emma Jacobsen added 5.3 points a game. Delaney Bertman ranked second on last year’s team with 140 rebounds, an average of 6.4 per game.
The Tigers list 10 players on their varsity roster and ADM head girls basketball coach Rick Dillinger says he’s got a great group of kids. “Personality-wise they are super individuals,” Dillinger said, “We have speed, which is nice, we have kids that can run the floor. Outside shooting will get better as the season goes on because of the reps and we have some size. We have a combination (of size and speed) we just have to put it together, and that’s going to take time.”
