The Panora City Council met in regular session Monday.
Women for Panora’s Future requested the Council to purchase a new Christmas tree and decorations for the community center. The Council approved $200 for the request. The Council then approved the 2016-2017 Annual Urban Renewal Report and subsequently a resolution to approve obligating funds from the Urban Renewal Tax Revenue Fund for appropriation tax increment financed obligations for the next fiscal year.
The Council then moved to a discussion on 2018 employee health insurance. After a lengthy discussion with opinions from the public, the Council approved a rate increase for the employee family portion from 12.5 to 14 percent. The meeting concluded with a discussion on park regulations. The Council approved the first reading on a set of new park ordinances, including: changing park hours to be closed from 10pm-5am on Sunday-Thursday and 11pm-5am on Friday and Saturday, prohibiting all animals from ballfields, and prohibiting camping at all city parks.
