The high school cross-country season in Iowa has been over for just 1-1/2 weeks, but Greene County Coach Jeff Lamoureux already is thinking about 2018. The were not many seniors in the top seven for either the girls or boys teams, and the coach is optimistic about the future. “Improvement won’t come easily, but if the kids work hard and put in some miles in the off-season, I think we could see some really good things.”
The Rams compete in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference, one of the top running conferences in the state for schools its size. “It’s great competition! And you get better by facing good people, which there are plenty of good teams and individuals in our conference. Its important for our kids to believe they can be right up there with the top teams in the Heart of Iowa. We as coaches believe they can, but the kids have to believe in themselves.”
