The fall sports season has wrapped up. Now it’s time to get ready for the winter season. Here is a schedule preview for West Central Valley winter sports.

The girls basketball team will begin their season with a set of scrimmages. The first scrimmage is in Atlantic this Saturday, November 11th. The Lady Wildcats will take part in the Hall of Pride Scrimmage at Saydel the following Saturday. The last time a West Central Valley athletic team traveled to Saydel was a productive outing, as the Lady Wildcat volleyball team captured a tournament title last month. The boys will begin their season at the Southwestern Community College (SWICC) Jamboree in Creston on Friday, November 24th. Last season the girls finished 9-14 overall, while the boys finished 6-18.

The Wildcat wrestling team will have to wait a couple more weeks until they hit the mats for the first time. Their first tournament of the season is Thursday, November 30th at East Union. Along with host East Union, the Wildcats will square off against Adair County rival Nodaway Valley and Guthrie County rival ACGC. The Wildcats are coming off a season which saw two wrestlers qualify to the state tournament.
