There will be a new head football coach at Adel-Desoto-Minburn High School next fall. ADM Activities Director Reece Satre confirmed with Raccoon Valley Radio Thursday reports that Mike Whisner has resigned as the Tigers head football coach.

Whisner started his football career in Adel as a player in the mid-1970’s and was the district’s first Iowa Shrine Bowl selection upon graduation in 1976. He returned to Adel in 1982 as a middle school teacher and the coach of multiple sports. Whisner led the ADM football team to the playoffs 11 times during his tenure, including six straight postseason trips from 2009 to 2014. He was also selected to coach the South Football team in the 2016 Iowa Shrine Bowl.

The 2017 ADM football season ended with a 1-8 overall record.
