The cold and wind couldn’t keep the children away from downtown Perry Monday evening, particularly with the prospect of bags full of candy at the annual “Spook-tacular” event.
The event was hosted by the Chamber of Commerce, and the streets were filled with costumed people of all ages and businesses giving them candy and information about themselves. Chamber Board member Misty VonBehren was out in the cold with the Chamber’s booth, and her spirit was high in spite of the temperature. “It’s a little chilly! Last year, it was about 80 (degrees), this year it’s not. But you know, you just kind of dance to the music and keep yourself warm. Everybody’s in a great mood, we’ve got puppies, we’ve got kids, we’ve got parents, we’ve got an awesome time (in) downtown Perry!”
Spook-tacular also featured an appearance by the Raccoon Valley Radio Big Red Radio, which played Halloween-themed music for the attendees, as well as a performance by Showtime Dance Studio. The event was followed by the citywide door-to-door trick-or-treating.
