Perry Fall Play 2017 Dracula

The Perry High School Drama Department will perform their production of “Dracula” this Friday and Saturday, and the cast, crew, and director are ready to bring this gothic horror classic to audiences.

Director Randy Peterson, an enthusiast of the genre, said he felt the play would fit perfectly with the season. “One of the things I’ve always wanted to do is gothic horror. And so ‘Dracula’s’ kind of a pet project of mine here. So when they gave me the opportunity to select a show here this summer, I kind of knew that the show was going to be just a couple days after Halloween. And so this show here, ‘Dracula’ is kind of what I wanted to do all along.”

The production boasts an impressive array of sets and effects, and Sophomore Alex Tasler, who portrays Arthur Holmwood, says it’s been exciting to watch everything come together. “I just like the whole theme of ‘Dracula,’ like the dark, gothic thing, and like the sets and the lights and all the different sounds effects we’re doing. And it’s so much fun watching all the different lights people, because they have to do so many different light cues for this play, and all the blackouts, and all the set changes. It’s just going to look super cool.”

Sophomore Kaylynn Bousman, who portrays Mina Harker, echoes Tasler’s sentiments about the effects. She says that alone will be worth the price of admission. “Honestly, if you’re into horror, this is a show for you. We’ve got fake blood that looks real. We’ve got fake fangs that’s not those cheap plastic ones you put in, it’s those ones that you get that you actually have to use glue and put them in. You’re going to want to come to it if you’re into the horror stuff. It’s all there!”

“Dracula” will be performed Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. each night. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students. To learn more about the play, listen to today’s Perry Fareway Let’s Talk Dallas County program at RaccoonValleyRadio.com.
