The swimming and cross-county double is rare for a high school girl, but that’s what Greene County High School senior Haley Hall did this season. Hall was a swimmer for Boone under an athletic sharing agreement all four years of high school, and this year she also ran cross-country for Greene County. It was the first time since eighth grade she ran X-C.

The X-C State meet at Kennedy Park north of Ft. Dodge was where Hall’s fall season ended. She ran a personal best time of 21:50 for the five kilometers (3.1 miles) and finished 78th among 136 girls in the Class 2A race.

As a sophomore and junior, she swam at State swim meets for Boone on relays, joining a select group to participate in both sports’ State meets during her career.

She did not swim on Saturday at the Johnston Regional because that event started at noon, and State X-C for 2A girls was at 1 p.m.
