IMG_8864Last Saturday thousands of Iowa high school musicians sang and played for a chance to represent their schools at next month’s All State Festival. Three vocalists from Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center High School made the chorus cut of 600. Junior soprano Klare Sheley, senior tenor Daniel Jayne, and senior bass Collin Stowe were selected for All-State. Sheley and Jayne were selected outright and Stowe qualified after being recalled. Sheley and Stowe were selected for the second consecutive year, while this is Jayne’s first bid.

Vocal Director Kelsey Moran describes the music selection at this year’s festival. “This year the lineup of music is wonderful. We have a German piece by Brahms. We have a funny piece where there are no real words. It’s all sounds and clashing chords.”

Seven students auditioned for the festival as well as two trumpet soloists. The 71st Annual Iowa All State Festival Concert is Saturday, November 18th at the Hilton Coliseum at Iowa State University in Ames at 7:30 pm. For ticketing information, click on the link below:
