The Perry Public Library has a new offering that will bring high-speed internet into people’s homes.
Starting this week, anyone at least 12-years-old who has a library card in good standing, meaning no fines and not a new patron, can checkout a mobile hotspot. Library Director Mary Murphy says people can check out the four hotspots for a week. A fifth hotspot will be available to reserve and rent for $5 a day. A mobile hotspot gives people access to a wifi signal to give them internet service wherever they are. They are on a 25 gigabyte plan, and once a hotspot has reached that limit, the speed will be lowered.
Murphy is excited for people to be able to use the hotspots and believes it’s a great opportunity for the community. “We’re looking forward to giving the community more connectivity. They can take this home for a week and bring it back. Use it how much they want it, and then bring it back for another patron to use it.”
If all the hotspots are checked out, patrons can put their name on a reserve list. For more information, visit the library or call 515-465-3569.
