Dallas County historian Rod Stanley will venture into Guthrie County for his next presentation. Stanley will present on interurban railroads at the Panora Public Library on Thursday, October 26th at 2 pm. There is no cost to attend and everyone is welcome.
An interurban railroad is a type of electric railway, similar to the popular 1920s streetcars. There are currently two railways still in operation in Iowa. The Crandic Railway spans four counties in the Cedar Rapids and Iowa City areas and the Iowa Traction Railway runs between Mason City and Clear Lake.
